The most common assumption buyers make about solar-ready homes costs them more than they realize.
They see a listing marked as solar-ready. They assume the solar system comes with a separate loan. A second monthly payment on top of the mortgage. An additional lien on the title. Another complication in an already complicated transaction.
So they move on. They choose a different home. One that looks simpler. One that, on paper, seems easier to understand.
That home, in most cases, costs more to own every month.

The information that changes this decision is rarely presented before the emotional commitment is made. Most buyers find out about the solar structure during due diligence, or after the offer is already written, or never at all.
